March 2006

Dear Parents,
The month of March is a very busy one in Pre-K.  We start off with a field trip to the King Center to see “The Big Comfy Couch."  The children are very excited and I'm sure they will enjoy the performance.  Thanks to all those who volunteered to drive, it should be fun!  As I’m sure you've heard our school has been going through the process of accreditation.  We have been preparing for this for the past year and a half.  Finally our hard work will all pay off when the Accreditation Team is here from March 15-17.  They will visit our school to observe students, teachers, administration, procedures, and physical plant.  On March 23rd we will have optional conferences.  If you would like to have a conference with your child's teacher, please let us know.  We may be contacting you to discuss your child’s progress.  Finally, on March 31st the school will host a luau to benefit Ms. Sissy and the 8th grade.  This was a HUGE success last year and LOTS of fun-especially for the children!  They really enjoyed dancing with their friends and seeing the teachers play in a band!!!
In the classroom we are working hard on those last names.  We would like to see them writing them by the end of year.  Also, we will start to work on our home phone numbers by the end of the month! More information will be available soon about this project.  In science we are going to talk about how animals feel (skin, fur, feathers, etc).  The students are busy working on ordination in math.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE-- if your child is sick keep them at home.  We have had a horrible flu season, and are just now beginning to once again have full classes after about a month and a half. YEAH!  If your child complains of not feeling well, we will take their temperature.  If your child has a fever, you will need to make arrangements to pick him/her up from school.  Thank you for your consideration to us all.

Remember:
Mar. 9th - 1:00 dismissal
Mar. 10th -No school
Mar. 17th -Noon dismissal
