The Technology Center

The Tech Center is a 6100 sq. foot building refurbished by MAI Architects Engineers Inc. Of the 6100 sq. foot, 4850 sq. ft. is air-conditioned and the other 1250 sq. ft. is a covered pavilion. The Tech Center is home to the Media Center, the PC Lab, the Science Lab, restroom facilities, and the Pavilion. The total cost of the improvement project exceeded a half million dollars with 70% of the cost going into the building and 30% of the cost going into technology and furnishing. This money was made possible through the Now Is The Time campaign as well as through the generous donations of several benefactors. In addition to these monetary donations, over 50 families donated their time to make the Tech Center a reality.

TECH CENTER

MEDIA CENTER

This is a clip of just a small portion of our Media Center, where students have access to a broad spectrum of resources for their educational needs and to encourage  reading and learning for special interests or leisure enjoyment.  Our media center encompasses more than 4000 volumes, periodicals and reference materials, as well as a computer center with access to CD-Rom reference materials and the Internet.

The Media Center also contains a teacher’s work area equipped with an Allyson machine, a laminating machine, and other media tools

COMPUTER LAB

The PC Lab is a state-of-the-art lab outfitted with 29 Pentium 4 multimedia computers for students and one teacher PC. Three student computers are located in the media center which is right next door.

The teacher PC is integrated with a LCD projector for ease of whole class instruction. Each PC is loaded with software to target all grade levels. Various software programs, including a beginning touch-typing program will be used for developing and improving computer skills for the lower grades. The upper grades will use the Microsoft Office software for activities such as writing, multimedia presentations and science projects. In addition, a writing lab software package, which integrates the LA textbook and curriculum is utilized.

SCIENCE LAB

The Science Lab utilizes the science station concept with 7 science stations accommodating
4 students each. The lab is well equipped with a 7-head teaching scope, stereoscopes, microscopes, precision balances, dissecting kits, alcohol burners, DC millimeters and numerous glassware.

The objective of the lab is to provide each student with significant hands-on experience in experimentation.  Students can expect to conduct experiments germane to their course of study at least once per chapter.

THE PAVILION

The Pavilion is a large covered structure with ceiling fans.  Children will use this pavilion throughout the day during recess and PE. It is also used during after-school hours for athletic program instruction and social activities.

A covered walkway runs along the entire building and connects the Tech Center to the other two buildings. In addition, Building 1 and Building 2 are connected with a covered walkway. The end result is the entire school is now  one cohesive campus.
