Our Lady of Lourdes offers children and families of all faiths a strong, supportive environment in which to nurture spiritual and character development.
Central to our curriculum is our religious instruction in which our students learn the truths and values of our Catholic faith. All students, regardless of religious affiliation or denomination, take religious instruction and attend all liturgy and prayer service. Students have the opportunity to help plan liturgy and to participate in various roles during Mass. Students participate in grade-level liturgies on a regular basis and in all-school liturgies on Holy Days of Obligation.
Special prayer services are held throughout the year and morning/afternoon prayer is a part of our daily PA announcements. Children are given the opportunity for reception of the Sacrament of Reconciliation twice a year.
Events that strengthen our faith and reinforce our commitment of service to others include:† Daily prayer at the beginning and end of each day during announcements
† Eighth grade Commissioning Mass
(Our eighth grade students are blessed as they become the leaders of our school for the upcoming school year)
† Blessing of the Pets
† Living Rosary (Celebrated twice a year; students represent a bead on the rosary)
† Rosary bags (Each week a different student in each classroom takes home a rosary to be prayed with their family)
† Advent wreaths and candle lighting in each classroom during Advent
† Advent giving projects
† Lenten service projects for all grades
† Lenten dinner for all families
† Make A Difference Day
† Middle school retreats
† Required service hours for middle school students
† First Communion retreat
† NUT Day (which stands for No, Uniform, Today) Once a month students may come to school out of uniform by bringing $1.00 to benefit a local charity.
