Library and Media

Library

The Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School Library is home to over 10,000 books, VHS/DVDs, magazines, and reference materials. Our teachers communicate with the librarian what topics or themes they will be covering so integration of those topics is possible.  The librarian teaches research and library skills, and exposes pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students to a wide variety of literature.

Accelerated Reader titles are available in the library’s collection to match quizzes the school has purchased. Emphasis is placed on reading both for information and for pleasure.

Computer Classes

Computer class is part of all pre-kindergarten through eighth grade curriculums and is age appropriate for each grade level. Computer classes place emphasis on keyboarding skills, and teach students how to be more proficient. The computer program enhances and integrates classroom lessons with the computer activities, and helps students learn how to type well-formatted assignments and papers coordinated with the classroom teachers.

Students at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School begin to learn and demonstrate an understanding of technology systems, and their proficiency in the use of technology grows each year.  They learn the ethical and societal issues related to technology and how to practice responsible use of technology systems. The arrangement of the desk and computer monitors allows for maximum supervision of students, and a computer for each student.
